What started out as a 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration in 1944 for Effie Lee McNeil & Washington Lee Cleere has continued as a family reunion. For many years it was held in the park at Lake Eanes, Comanche, TX. After the lake's dam broke, the park was closed.

For several years the Cleere Reunion had been held at the Comanche Community Center for Saturday's gathering and at either the nearby City Park or Virginia Archer's home for Sunday's gathering. Many games of dominos and cards are played; family events are caught up; as well as just plain ol' visiting.

With the death of the youngest child, Robert C. Cleere, in June of 2000, all seven children of Effie Lee & Washington Lee Cleere (who reached adulthood) have passed on to a better world. It's now up to the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their children to carry on the tradition of the Reunion.

The Cleeres will be having the
